Media Group Names NAFDAC Into ‘FOI Hall Of Shame’,

0 votes

Media Rights Agenda (MRA)yesterday named the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) this week’* inductee into its Freedom of Information (FoI) Hall of Shame, contending that the agency’* sundry acts of non-compliance with the FoI Act suggest that the health and wellbeing of all Nigerians might be at risk.

In its statement in Lagos announcing NAFDAC’* induction into the FoI Hall of Shame, MRA’* Programme Director, Mr.NairaBet Nigeria Sports Betting Ayode Longe, expressed concern over the implications of the agency’* failure to fully implement the provisions of the FoI Act and fulfill its duties and obligations under the law.

Longe said: "The situation with respect to NAFDAC’* non-compliance with the FoI Act is extremely worrisome because the agency regulates a critically important sector touching on the health and wellbeing of all Nigerians and non-Nigerians living in the country. Its failure to perform its duties and obligations under the FoI Act naturally raises questions about the extent to which it is faithfully performing its functions under its enabling Law, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control Act, Cap N1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
